PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid lighting a room lamp when there is no intention of getting off. SOLUTION: In the room lamp control device for the vehicle, an engine starting stopping device for starting an engine when a push button type engine starting stopping switch is pressed/operated when a shift position of a transmission is positioned at a parking position or a neutral position and for stopping the engine when the engine starting stopping switch is pressed/operated during operation of the engine is installed. The device is constituted such that the room lamp is lighted when the stopping state of the engine is detected, existence of attachment of a seat belt of an occupant is detected, the engine starting stopping switch is pressed/operated during operation of the engine and the stopping state of the engine is detected and the seat belt non-attachment state of the occupant is detected.
