PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of and an apparatus for measuring a heart rate from a blood flow flowing in the blood vessel of a human body part and a recording medium where a program for executing the method using a computor is recorded.

SOLUTION: The apparatus for measuring heart rate 100 includes: an amplifying circuit 150 receiving a light signal reflecting from or penetrating through a human body part and generating a multi-stage amplified signal composed of signals having a plurality of different gains according to a control signal; and a processor 170 separating the multi-stage amplified signal provided from the amplifying circuit into a plurality of channel signals having corresponding gains, reconfiguring the light signal using a channel signal selected among the plurality of the separated channel signals and calculating heart rate from the reconfigured light signal.
