<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica dispersion which makes viscosity stable even after a lapse of time, and to provide a coating liquid for an inkjet recording material, which improves filterability by using the silica dispersion. <P>SOLUTION: In this storage method for the silica dispersion, silica, which is manufactured by a wet method, is ground and dispersed in a dispersion medium which is composed mainly of water and to which a cationic polymer and a water-soluble barium salt are added, until an average secondary particle diameter reaches 1.0 μm or less.
