<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of starting the printing even right after it is restored from a power saving mode. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus has a means that is in a standby state without transition into a power saving mode while supply of toner is carried out by a toner supply section 12 (a toner supply means) but makes transition into the power saving mode while the supply of toner is not carried out. The image forming apparatus comprises a means for measuring an elapsed time period from a previous operation by an operation section 14 (an operation means) and a means for judging whether the supply of toner is carried out for transition into the power saving mode when a preset time period stored in a ROM 4 (a memory means) has passed from the previous operation.
