PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both of prevention of edge thinning and suppression of fogging and to enhance feeding capabilities of developer in performing non-contact development by feeding of the developer using progressive electric fields. SOLUTION: In a system for performing the non-contact development by using a developer feeding member 41 having a plurality of progressive wave generation electrodes 41b and feeding the developer toward a photoreceptor drum 1 by the progressive electric fields formed by the developer feeding member, both of the prevention of edge thinning and the suppression of fogging are achieved by setting a development gap G(mm) at a position where the developer feeding member 41 and the photoreceptor drum 1 approach most, arrangement pitchλ(mm) of the progressive wave generation electrode and dielectric thickness A(mm) on the progressive wave generation electrode so as to satisfy relation of [0.5<λ/G<2] and [5×A<λ] and optimizing development conditions.
