PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-transmitting body which stably maintains superior emission characteristics over a long period by being easily arranged in an arbitrary shape, even when it has a large-sized diameter because of the superior softness and flexibility and hardly lowers emitted light amount under the condition of high temperature and high humidity, in warm water or under the condition of being exposed to direct sunlight or to wind and rain over a long period, and to provide a lighting system which uses the light-transmitting body. SOLUTION: The light transmitting body comprises a tube-like clad material, and an amorphous core material, having a refractive index higher than that of the inner surface of the tube-like clad material stored in the tube-like clad material. The amorphous core material has a polymer, having a polymer polyol and a hydroxy group reactive multi-functional compound at least as the constituents. The tube-like clad material and/or the amorphous core material contain weather-resistant additives. The lighting system which uses the light transmitting body is also provided.
