PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high safety during an increase of inside pressure due to overcharge and sealing property maintained when it is left at a place of high temperatures as usually happened. SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a container having at least one part of an inner surface formed of a coating film as a sealant layer and sealed by thermal fusion, a group of electrodes 1 housed in the container and having a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte housed in the container; a thermoplastic film 12 with a melting point lower than that of the sealant layers 11a-11c is interposed in a part of the sealing portion of the container so that its end portion is not interposed at the boundary of the sealing portion.
