PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual control device for a plate having been exposed that makes it possible to visually and quantitatively estimate an error included in a result of an exposure process better. SOLUTION: The control marking 3 includes at least two strips 32 and 33 extending at least approximately in parallel, the one strip 32 depicting an uncalibrated tonal value profile around a defined halftone value, while the other strip 33 depicts the defined halftone value calibrated in the printing process. The control marking 3 is provided with at least one region wherein the uncalibrated tonal value profile and the calibrated defined halftone value coincide visually in terms of color.
