PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater with an air supply/exhaust cylinder to be taken out of the back face of an equipment body at its right or left side, whichever. SOLUTION: The heater comprises a first collective part 14 having a first flow-in port 11 into which combustion gas generated by the combustion of a burner part 1 flows, a plurality of heat exchanger pipes 16 each having one end communicated with the first collective part 14 for the combustion gas to distribute inward, a second collective part 15 with which the other end of each of the heat exchanger pipes 16 is communicated, having a second flow-in port 12 into which the combustion gas directly flows, and first and second partition members 19, 22 for partitioning the first collective part 14 and the second collective part 15 into sides of communication with the heat exchanger pipes 16 and sides of communication with the flow-in ports 11, 12. The air supply/exhaust cylinder 28 is connected to one of the collective parts 14, 15 and an exhaust joint 27 is connected to the other so that air is selectively exhausted from the right or left side on the back face of the equipment body A.
