PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the arrangement of a chain almost in the same plane. SOLUTION: A transmission for a bicycle comprises a front sprocket wheel 63, a rear sprocket wheel 92, and an intermediate transmission 33. The intermediate transmission 33 is controllably connected to the front sprocket wheel 63 and the rear sprocket wheel 92. The intermediate transmission 33 has a shaft 71, a plurality of intermediate driving members 73, a chain 34, and a shifting structure 74. A plurality of the intermediate driving members 73 rotationally drive the shaft 71. The chain 34 is connected to the front sprocket wheel 73 and one of the intermediate driving members 73 so as to be controllable. The shifting structure 74 axially shifts the intermediate driving members 73 on the shaft such that the chain 34 is selectively shifted between the intermediate driving members 73.
