PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car body assembling method, simplifying equipment to reduce the production cost by effectively utilizing the function of a robot hand. SOLUTION: In this car body assembling method, a robot hand 6E removably supporting a back panel is used, and a robot carries the robot hand 6E to assemble the back panel to a predetermined position. The robot hand 6E uses a clamper 61 holding the back panel, a gauge 62 abutting on the back panel, and first and second gauge position control mechanisms 71, 81 for varying the position of the gauge 62 to the clamper 61 to vary the position of the gauge 62 to the clamper 61 corresponding to a panel different in shape.
