<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective method for inspecting recording quality decided by combination of a drive and a medium. <P>SOLUTION: A reference medium 18 being quality level reference of various media is recorded and reproduced for each drive 20-1 to 20-5, threshold values 1-5 obtained by multiplying a characteristic value obtained consequently by the prescribed coefficient are stored respectively in the prescribed storage area provided at each drive. When information is recorded in a medium to be recorded, the medium is recorded and reproduced using a plurality of recording conditions accompanying variation of power or pulse width, an approximate curve is obtained from a plurality of characteristic values obtained consequently, inspection of recording quality for the medium is performed based on margin quantity obtained from position relation of the approximate curve and the threshold value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
