<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel acetylcholinesterase (AchE) inhibitor having an essence oil of Aster pilosus as an active ingredient and its use. <P>SOLUTION: The AchE inhibitor, a senile dementia therapeutic or prophylactic agent, a brain impairment improver, an Alzheimer type dementia therapeutic or prophylactic agent, an aromatic, and a bathing agent have an essence oil of Aster pilosus as an active ingredient. A terpenoid mixture of 15-35 pts. wt. α-pinene, 13-33 pts. wt. β-pinene, and 3-23 pts. wt. limonene which are present in the essence oil of Aster pilosus as the major components has the same AchE inhibiting action as the essence oil. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
