PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embedded communication apparatus capable of easily, safely and economically performing communication with a device embedded in an electric field transmission medium such as a living body, and to provide a data processing system employing this apparatus. SOLUTION: A transceiver 51 for electric field communication, a computer 53 and a pace maker 3 as a device are provided, which are surrounded by a water-proof insulating coating means 61, in a living body 1a of an electric field transmission medium to configure an embedded communication apparatus 5. Data from an external computer 9 are induced as an electric field in the living body 1a from an external transceiver 7 for electric field communication via an external transmission/reception electrode 11, this electric field is received by the transceiver 51 via a transmission/reception electrode 59 of the apparatus 5, the received electric field is supplied to the computer 53 as data of an electric signal, and the data are supplied from the computer 53 to the pace maker 3.
