PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorption structure of an automobile suitable for ensuring the energy absorption stroke and reducing the weight. SOLUTION: The energy absorption structure has a front side member SM comprising an FRP-made energy absorption unit 2 of a cylindrical section in which the collapse occurs successively from an input end side by the input load from the axial direction, and a supporting part 1 which is continuous to the energy absorption unit 2, formed of FRP, and joined with a vehicle body part. In the energy absorption unit 2, reinforced fibers are oriented uniformly in the longitudinal direction and the direction orthogonal thereto of the front side member SM.
