PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow skeleton member for a vehicle ensuring rigidity in a side direction at a mounting part of another constituent member while permitting deformation of a longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: In a side member 1 formed to a lengthy hollow body having a rectangular cross section, an upper member 10 having a reverse U shape cross section and a lower member 11 having a U shape cross section are formed by abutting and binding respective release side ends 10a, 11a. A boss part 12 for mounting a suspension member 2 is projectedly formed on a bottom surface in a closed cross section S1 of the lower member 11. A first reinforcement rib 13 inclined in a longitudinal direction of the side member 1 is provided over an outer peripheral surface of the boss part 12, a bottom wall 11b of the lower member 11 and both side walls 11c. A second reinforcement rib 14 is provided over an upper wall 10b of the upper member 10 and both side walls 10c corresponding to the formation area of the first reinforcement rib 13.
