PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable pedal pressing characteristic having a clearance region to be attained at an accelerator pedal device employing a simple hysteresis generating mechanism without showing any irregular feeling. SOLUTION: A hysteresis generating mechanism for generating a hysteresis in pedal pressing force as a pedal arm 20 is moved is constituted by a swing lever 30 connected to a pedal arm 20 so as to have a swing fulcrum point S2 at a location displaced from a supporting shaft 11, a biasing spring 40 for applying a biasing force to one end 31 of the swing lever, a sliding part 11a for sliding the other end 32 of the swing lever to resist against the biasing force of the biasing spring while being abutted it, and an engagement part 14 engaged with one end 31 of the swing lever to cause a pressing force to be applied in such a direction as one opposing against the biasing force of the biasing spring. With this arrangement as above, it is possible to attain pedal pressing characteristic showing no irregular feeling where a hysteresis is generated at a double-stage load characteristic having an idle region.
