PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body assembly method capable of simplifying the equipment and reducing the production cost by effectively utilizing the function of a robot hand carried to a robot. SOLUTION: A robot hand 6G2 carried by a robot is held between posts 8J, 9J for hand set and supported by using the robot hand 6G2 to attachably/detachably support a body side panel 23, a floor set tool 15 with the robot hand 6G2 installed thereon, a pair of posts 8J, 9J for hand set which are movably erected on the floor set tool 15, and locates 41D, 42D, 43D, 44D which hold the robot hand 6G2 and guide it to a predetermined position, and the body side panel 23 is assembled on the floor set tool via the robot hand 6G2 and the posts 8J, 9J for hand set.
