PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding wheel for surface grinding, restraining deformation of a metallic support in spite of high-speed rotating drive, and keeping grinding quality and grinding accuracy. SOLUTION: In this grinding wheel G for surface grinding including the metallic support 94, a balance wall 98 is an outer peripheral part of the metallic support which is projected from the opposite surface to the surface from which an annular outer peripheral wall 88 is projected in the reverse direction to the annular outer peripheral wall 88, whereby when centrifugal force is applied to the balance wall 98 in surface grinding, reverse moment canceling the moment generated by the centrifugal force applied to the annular outer peripheral wall 88 is generated in the balance wall 98 to relax deformation of the annular outer peripheral wall 88 and the metallic support body 86, so that even if high speed rotation is performed, the deformation of the metallic support 94 is restrained to solve the problem of impairing grinding quality and grinding accuracy.
