PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program for controlling the quantity of works in process, which can keep a suitable amount of products without retention or lack in all steps, and brings about efficient and smooth production at any time. SOLUTION: The program for controlling the quantity of works in process has a means stored in a computer, for implementing the following processes: a process of detecting a quantity A of stored PCBs for use in the step concerned; a process of detecting a quantity B of the stored PCBs for use in the subsequent steps; a process of detecting a quantity C of the PCBs subjected to production in the subsequent steps; a process of calculating the total value N of the detected quantities A, B and C; a process of permitting production in the process concerned when the total value N is below a previously set value Ns; and a process of inhibiting production of the step concerned when the total value N has reached the set value Ns.
