<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert an original multilevel image of low resolution into a binary image of high-resolution regarding a text portion (small characters) of a document image, and to reproduce the color of the characters accurately, thereby generating a high-definition image of high-resolution efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: An image processor 1 is provided with: a character extraction means 11 for extracting a character from an acquired original digital image; a high-resolution binary image generation means 12 for generating a binary image of resolution higher than that of the original digital image OG for each character extracted by the character extraction means; a character color extraction means 13 for extracting a character color for each character extracted by the character extraction means; a character contour color decision means 14 for deciding the contour color of a character from an average color of each character extracted by the character extraction means and the darkest color; and a high-resolution image generation means 15 for generating an image of resolution higher than that of the original digital image from the original digital image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
