<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lane position detecting system capable of automatically performing the optimum white line detection processing in accordance with various road conditions and road environments. <P>SOLUTION: This lane position detecting system 20 converts an image obtained by taking an image of a road surface by an in-vehicle camera 21, into an overhead image, a brightness profile to the direction vertical to the traveling direction is determined by integrating the brightness of the overhead image in parallel with the vehicle traveling direction, and the filtering processing is performed on the brightness profile to detect a position of a white line. This lane position detecting system 20 determines the road surface condition on the basis of the information from a sensor loaded on the vehicle, and changes frequency characteristics of a filter used in the filtering processing on the basis of the determined road surface condition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
