<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting start of dive executed within a dive computer-type portable electronic device 1. <P>SOLUTION: This method is adapted to detect start of a dive executed within the portable electronic device 1 which has at least a first operation mode and a second operation mode called dive mode, and includes, particularly, a pressure sensor 5 measuring the value of a circumferential pressure P and an electronic circuit 2 including a time base 4 and at least one memory area 7 and 8 and processing the measurement result. More specifically, this method comprises correcting a fixed measured pressure value followed by storing as a reference pressure value (Pref).
