PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a host side to quickly restore a damaged file which has not been able to be restored. SOLUTION: When software accesses a file, an instruction to report which address of a disk device the file is assigned to is prepared, and software prepares a file position management table in advance. At reading data from a normal disk in the restoring operation of data, when the data cannot be normally read due to a read error, the error position is registered as a restoration failure position list, and the restoration processing is continued from the next data position. When the restoration failure position list is not empty at the time of the completion of the data restoration processing of a whole medium surface, the restoration failure position list is reported to the host device 1.
