PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of disconnection due to bending of a wire when performing the drive control of a light shielding member for partly shielding a reading area from light, regarding an image reader using a 135 film and an APS film. SOLUTION: The image reader is provided with a moving mechanism for moving a movable unit having a 1st carrying path for reading the full-sized image and the panoramic image on the 135 film and a 2nd carrying path for reading the frame image on the APS film to the fixed main body side so as to position either path in an opening part, and also, the apparatus is provided with a light shielding part driving part for driving a light shielding part 40 having a 1st light shielding part 40b for shielding the outside of the panoramic image in the width direction from light so as to perform the switching of a 1st position where the light is not shielded by the 1st light shielding part 40b and a 2nd position where the light is shielded by the 1st light shielding part 40b, and when the 1st carrying path is positioned in the opening part, the driving member for performing the switching of the light shielding member 40 is connected to the light shielding member 40.
