PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, thin liquid crystal display by rationally laying out various kinds of devices provided in the liquid crystal display and by reducing wasted space in the liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: In the cabinet of a liquid crystal television receiver 1, there are speakers 10, 10, a recording and reproducing device 11, a liquid crystal display unit 12, and an inverter substrate 13 for composing an inverter circuit for controlling the liquid crystal display unit 12. The speakers 10, 10, which have height H that is lower than height H1 of the liquid crystal display unit 12, are arranged at the side of the liquid crystal display unit 12, and the invertor substrate 13 is arranged at a space 20 formed at the upper portion of the speakers 10, 10, thus providing the compact, thin liquid crystal display, where the invertor substrate 13 can be arranged at the space 20 formed by the difference of a height dimension (H1-H), and the unoccupied space 20 in the cabinet can be effectively utilized.
