PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stain detecting method and an imaging apparatus, capable of surely detecting whether an imaging lens is stained or not. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises an automatic focusing means that performs focusing according to the contract value of a subject image that is imaged with an imaging element 12 using an imaging lens 14, and first and second range-finding line sensors in which an object image is focused through a sensor window 18. A first contract value of the object image focused on the first range-finding line sensor and the second contract value of the object image focused on the second range-finding line sensor are detected. When focused by the automatic focusing means, a third contrast value of the object image focused with the imaging lens is detected. Either the first contrast value or the second contrast value is compared with the third contrast value, to detect whether the imaging lens is stained or not. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
