PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy having excellent wear resistance and capable of reducing the wear of a mating material. SOLUTION: This aluminum alloy with excellent wear resistance has a composition consisting of, by mass, 12.0 to 14.0% Si, 2.0 to 5.0% Cu, 0.1 to 1.0% Mg, 0.8 to 1.3% Mn, 0.10 to 0.5% Cr, 0.05 to 0.20% Ti, 0.5 to 1.3% Fe, 0.003 to 0.02% P, Ca in an amount controlled to <0.005% and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. This sliding member is made of the aluminum alloy with excellent wear resistance which has the above composition and in which the number of primary-crystals Si of≥20μm grain size is made to≤20 pieces/mm<SP>2</SP>.
