PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for gasifying a water-containing biomass in which treating time is shortened and high gasification efficiency can be attained. SOLUTION: A water-containing biomass having≥10% solid content concentration, e.g. livestock waste or sewage dehydration sludge is pre-treated by a solubilizing apparatus 2 having 5MPa to 30MPa pressure and≥150°C water evaporation temperature to carry out solubilization treatment of the organic substance and then, the organic substance is gasified by using a catalyst in a reactor 1 connected to the rear stage of the solubilizing apparatus 2 and heated to 400°C to 800°C under 5MPa to 30MPa pressure. High gasification efficiency can be attained by previous solubilization with the solubilizing apparatus 2. An alkali catalyst or a metal catalyst can be used as the catalyst. Agitating blades 3 and 4 are each installed in the interiors of the reactor 1 and the solubilizing apparatus 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
