PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer particle that has excellent redispersibility and, in dispersion in an organic solvent, has excellent fluidity. SOLUTION: The method for producing a polymer particle comprises polymerizing a monomer mixture containing a first ethylenic unsaturated monomer, an organic solvent that has low compatibility with a polymer to be obtained from the first ethylenic unsaturated monomer and is slightly soluble in water, a surfactant and a first polymerization initiator in an aqueous medium and adding a second ethylenic unsaturated monomer that is the same with or different from the first ethylenic unsaturated monomer and further carrying out polymerization when predetermined conditions are satisfied.
