PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method of efficiently removing fibrous substance like hair or fiber contained in liquid to be treated like waste water, and to provide an agitator used for it. SOLUTION: The agitator rod 2 is installed in the liquid to be treated, at least one wire-like body 3 is arranged substantially orthogonal to a rotation wave within a reaching range of the rotation wave generated by the rotation of the agitator rod 2, and the fibrous substance in the treating object liquid is made to tangle with the wire-like body 3, to remove the fibrous substance in the treated liquid. Multiple wire-like bodies 3 are preferably mounted parallel to an axis of the agitator rod 2, to rotate together with the rod 2, with a given space around the rod 2 of the agitator. Multiple wire-like bodies may be mounted, parallel to the agitator rod 2, on the inner wall 4 of a tank of the agitator with a given space from the inner wall. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
