A linked card-drawframe combination has a drafting system (30) driven through a differential gearbox (33) controlled by a motor (M3) to level out short-term mass variations in the sliver (6). The base speed of the main drawframe drive motor (M2) is modified by signals from sensors (14,12,62) responding to long-term variations in the sliver. The amount of sliver in the intermediate sliver store loop (FS) is monitored by a sensor (14) consisting of transducers (S1,S2). Sensors (12,62) at the card outlet and at the drafting system measure any speed difference between them. An additional fiber mass sensor at the card outlet can be fitted for long-term control of the card. The sensor signals are fed to a central controller which adjusts the base speeds of the drive motors (M1,M2) to maintain long-term control of the set values (Soll).
|
