<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric ceramic composition satisfying X8R characteristics with elongated mean time to failure (MTTF), and a multilayer ceramic capacitor provided with the dielectric ceramic composition. <P>SOLUTION: This dielectric ceramic composition comprises barium titanate as the principal component, a first sub-component (at least one of respective oxides of Mg, Ca, Ba and Sr), a second sub-component (an oxide containing 1 mol Si in 1 mol thereof), a third sub-component (at least one of respective oxides of V, Mo and W), a fourth sub-component (an oxide of R<SP>1</SP>which is at least one of Sc, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu), a fifth sub-component (an oxide of R<SP>2</SP>which is at least one of Y, Dy, Ho. Tb, Gd and Eu), a sixth sub-component (at least one of respective oxides of Mn and Cr) and a seventh sub-component (at least one of calcium zirconate and a mixture of Ca oxide and Zr oxide), where the ratio (A/B) of the mole number A of the second sub-component to the total mole number B of the fourth and the fifth sub-components is 0.7 or above. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
