PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for allowing the cooling of an engine through a cooling fan while seeking downsizing and weight reduction of the engine. SOLUTION: In a cooling device for a vehicle-installed engine in which a crankcase 12, designed to hold a crankshaft 24 in such a way that the crankshaft can revolve freely, a cylinder block 13 which rises upward from the forward part of the crankcase 12, and an engine proper 11 equipped with a cylinder head 14, which is connected with the said cylinder block 13, are mounted on the vehicle behind front wheels, while cooling fans 58A, 58B, for cooling the cylinder block 13 of the engine proper 11 or cylinder head 14, are installed behind the cylinder block 13, wherein a rotor 53 of an AC generator 52 is connected coaxially with a power transmission shaft 51, which is held by the crankcase 12 in parallel with the crankshaft 24 behind the crankshaft 24 and receives the transmission of motive power from the crankshaft 24, and the revolving shaft 59 of cooling fans 58A, 58B coaxially with the power transmission shaft 51.
