PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing process by which in a manufacturing of a hydrogenated cycloolefin polymer comprising conducting ring-opening metathesis polymerization of a cycloolefin and hydrogenating the carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds of the cycloolefin polymer obtained, the polymerization reaction and the hydrogenation reaction are carried out continuously and a hydrogenated cycloolefin polymer having a high hydrogenation ratio is manufactured in a high productivity. SOLUTION: The manufacturing process of the hydrogenated cycloolefin polymer comprises a polymerization reaction step in which a cycloolefin is subjected to ring-opening polymerization in the presence of a metathesis catalyst, a polymerization termination step in which the polymerization reaction is terminated by adding an alkyl vinyl ether, when the polymerization conversion ratio of the cycloolefin has reached 95-99.99 mol.% and a hydrogenation reaction step in which the cycloolefin polymer is hydrogenated by introducing hydrogen into the terminated polymerization solution.
