PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional image forming device cannot easily narrow an interval between recording mediums because the medium transfer interval is affected by an interval between recording heads and an interval between nozzle arrays in a transfer direction, resulting in a difficulty in improving throughput. SOLUTION: There is provided a new image forming device according to which image data transfer or parameter setting for a data processing circuit is independently carried out at every recording head or every head unit, and therefore even if one of the recording heads or the head units is under image forming operation, the other recording head or head unit can carry out image data rewriting or parameter setting. As a result, the image forming device can narrow the interval between the transferred recording mediums to a very small value without being affected by the distance between the recording heads or between the head units (distance between the nozzles) and only by taking into consideration a time period necessary for the data transfer or parameter setting, thereby improving the throughput of the device.
