PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a filter device enhancing the reversal washing performance of a filter element and capable of storing reversal washing water in a filtration column body to be able to reduce an amount of reversally washed drainage in a filter element suspension type reversal washing filter, and a reversal washing method. SOLUTION: In the filter device partitioning the inside of a filtration column into an upper chamber and a lower chamber, and suspending the filter element from a stationary plate having a plurality of communicating holes, the filter device is provided with a movable plate having a plurality of opening holes on a stationary plate, communicating the communicating holes to the opening holes to communicate with the upper chamber side and the lower chamber side and also capable of integrally moving the whole opening holes so as to be able to block communication between the communication holes and the opening holes, and the reversal washing method for temporarily storing reversal washing water in the upper chamber and then pressurizing to carry out reversal washing is disclosed.
