PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methanotroph which is growable even at 75°C. SOLUTION: The methanotroph belongs to the genus Methylothermus and is growable at 75°C. The methanotroph preferably belongs to Methylothermus thermalis and is growable at 75°C. The Methylothermus thermalis has, preferably, an accession number of FERM P-19714. Since the methanotroph can be grown at a temperature higher than that of a conventional methanotroph, culture of the methanotroph can be carried out at higher culturing temperature. Merits capable of increasing a rate of a reaction in which the methanotroph participates, decreasing contamination by various germs and capable of reducing load by cooling because of higher set temperature are obtained by keeping the culturing temperature to a higher temperature.
