Diffuser and an aeration apparatus equipped with such a diffuser

A diffuser ( 10 ) having a body ( 12 ) with a blind bore ( 18 ) having a closed impaction end ( 22 ). Fluids are diffused radially from the body ( 12 ) through slots ( 26 ). The diffuser ( 10 ) is characterized by a central slot ( 28 ), a lower slot ( 3 ) and an upper slot ( 32 ). The central slot ( 28 ) discharges a first fluid stream ( 34 ) substantially horizontally. The lower slot ( 30 ) discharges a second fluid stream ( 36 ) at an upward angle to impinge upon the first fluid stream ( 34 ). The upper slot ( 32 ) discharges a third fluid stream ( 38 ) at a downward angle to impinge upon the first fluid stream ( 34 ). The diffuser, as described above, has proven to be effective for use in aeration of water for aquaculture.
