PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain accurate backup, even if a failure is generated, while improving a backup speed. SOLUTION: This backup method, for requesting the backup of a file 31 stored in a predetermined NAS of a plurality of NAS1 and 2 to a backup device, in response to a backup request from a client computer, is provided to select a backup object file, based on the backup request from the client computer, and to assign the selected backup object file 31 to NAS1 and 2, and to make each NAS request the backup of the assigned file 31 to the backup device in parallel (102, 202).
