<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which detects the concentration distribution of a test pattern with high sensitivity by using a reflection-type optical sensor of a simple configuration, and corrects an image forming position of a recording head with high accuracy, and to provide a method of correcting the image forming position. <P>SOLUTION: According to the operation of the image forming device, it is determined at a step 400 whether or not print data for printing the test pattern are inputted, and if the print data are inputted, it is determined at a step 402 whether or not a yellow head 12Y is driven from the print data. If it is determined that the yellow head 12Y is driven, then a cyan head 12C is driven at a step 404, thereby printing a ground of pale blue.
