<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate having less point defects with high yield and to provide a liquid crystal display apparatus having high display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a protective film for a polarizing plate is characterized in that a thermoplastic resin film is immersed in a high alkaline aqueous solution containing an antioxidant to carry out saponification. The invention presents a protective film for a polarizing plate obtained by the above method, and a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display apparatus. The high alkaline aqueous solution preferably contains a surfactant. The thermoplastic resin film is preferably a cellulose acylate film containing 0.1 to 30 mass% of a low molecular weight compound having 200 to 1,000 molecular weight. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
