<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant escape system wherein a seat can be surely moved in case of emergency, allowing an occupant to be quickly released from the seat. <P>SOLUTION: The occupant escape system has an electric seat device 10 comprising a seat main body 11 installed movably in a fore-and-aft direction in a vehicle, an electric driving source 12 operated by supply of electricity, a driving force transmitting means 13 for moving the seat main body 11 by connecting the seat main body 11 and the electric driving source 12, and a transmission releasing means 14 for releasing transmission of the driving force transmitting means 13; an air bag 20 installed in front of the seat main body 11; a detecting means 30 for detecting a vehicle state; and a control means 40 for developing the air bag 20 according to results detected by the detecting means 30 and thereafter operating the transmission releasing means 14.
