PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for allowing a personal identification device to safely deal with biological information. SOLUTION: In a personal identification device 100, a biological information acquisition section 104 acquires biological information from a person to be identified. A feature extraction section 116 specifies a biological value indicating features of the biological information. A similarity value specification section 106 calculates a similarity value indicative of similarity between a predetermined reference value and the biological value. An authentication section 108 specifies a registered person corresponding to the person to be identified by comparing similarity values of registered persons corresponding to the reference value with the similarity value of the person to be identified corresponding to the reference value.
