PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for enabling a user to easily discriminate the focused state of an image displayed on a view finder or the like when the device is manually focused. SOLUTION: This imaging apparatus is provided with an image picking up means for generating an image signal from video captured through an imaging lens, a focus adjusting means that can manually adjust the focused state of the imaging lens, a contour correction signal generating means for extracting contour components of the image signal generated by the imaging means and generating a contour correction signal, a signal switching and transmitting means for switching the image signal generated by the imaging means to the contour correction signal generated by the contour correction signal generating means and transmitting the switched contour correction signal to an image display means, and a focus adjusting operation detecting means that detects the operation of the focus adjusting means, and can control the switching operation of the signal transmission switching means so as to transmit the contour correction signal when the detected operation is manually adjusted.
