PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproducing apparatus capable of reproducing information so that a user of a recording medium, in which a compressed file is recorded, does not feel displeasure. SOLUTION: The information reproducing apparatus P, which is used to reproduce music information recorded on a recording medium DK, is provided with a CPU 14 that prohibits reproducing of the music information being compressed and recorded based on a beforehand set quality index that indicates sound quality of the music information, for example a bit rate. It is preferable that the apparatus P is provided with an operating section 15, which is used to set the range of the quality by the quality index of the music information for inhibiting the reproducing.
