PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a determination technique for corresponding to an arbitrary container shape and to provide an easier-to-use device for determining the assortment of a liquid in a container and its control method, as to a device for determining the assortment of a liquid in a container by utilizing the permittivity of the liquid. SOLUTION: This device for determining the assortment of a liquid in a container is equipped with a flexible or elastic electrode 2, an oscillation circuit 4, a control part 5 for detecting the oscillation frequency thereof, and LED display devices 6a, 6b, and 6c which are annunciation means. Putting the container 1 held by a hand 3 into contact with or pressing it against the electrode 2 causes the electrode 2 and a hand 3 to constitute a capacitor built in the oscillation circuit 4.
