PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for producing a carbonized product of low residual chlorine content with combustible garbage as feedstock even in a treatment facility for which a zero-effluent closed system is required. SOLUTION: The method for producing the carbonized product comprises the following process: A carbonized product obtained by carbonizing combustible garbage in a carbonizing oven 1 is washed with water in a washing tank 9 injected with a necessary amount of feed water for lowering the residual chlorine content of the carbonized product to effect lowering its chlorine content followed by dehydrating and drying the product. In this method, part of dehydration effluent is returned to the tank 9 via a returning line 14 and circulatingly used and the rest of the dehydration effluent is evaporated via a line 16 from a cooling column 5 for high-temperature exhaust gas from the carbonizing oven 1 to effect zero effluent.
