PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overhead crane capable of saving equipment cost, reducing re-suspension work of a cargo, and capable of restraining the occurrence of a malfunction. SOLUTION: This overhead crane is characterized by having an overhead traveling device 1 movably arranged in the horizontal straight line direction along a wall surface of a support structure, traveling rails 2a and 2b for placing this overhead traveling device 1 and allowing the device to freely travel by guiding, a traverse runway 3 extending in the horizontal right-angled direction to the traveling direction of the traveling rails 2a and 2b, a trolley 50 freely traveling along the overhead traveling device 1 or the traverse runway 3, and a switching means for allowing the trolley 50 to freely travel between the overhead traveling device 1 and the traverse runway 3 by connectably or separably switching the overhead traveling device 1 and the traverse runway 3.
