PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image fixing apparatus which enables the selection of a glossiness of an image to be fixed by a simple switching operation in one image fixing apparatus. SOLUTION: The image fixing apparatus for fixing the image on a recording medium formed by using an ink comprising at least coloring material particles comprising a coloring material and a resin is equipped with a fixing unit having a plurality of fixing rolls adjacently arranged, wherein one of the fixing rolls is a heating roll, and thermally fixing the image on the recording medium by pinching and carrying the recording medium between a plurality of these fixing rolls, a fixing roll driving means for driving at least one of the fixing rolls, and a fixing unit moving means for moving the fixing unit so as to position a required fixing roll on an image recording face side of the recording medium, to solve the problem.
